Hot springs change your skin
Scenery changes your heart

The hot springs at Niseko Grand Hotel offer more than just a bath, and provide special moments for rejuvenation.
The springs include two types of in-house hot springs, both officially classified under the Hot Spring Law as “sodium chloride-hydrogen carbonate springs,” along with a blended spring combining the two, totaling three types of springs.
Relax to your heart’s content here in this place where nature, spring quality, and scenery come together.

Two hot spring sources for moisturized, smooth and beautiful skin

Niseko Grand Hotel’s hot springs are directly sourced. Two types of in-house hot springs are used: Well No. 1 with green-brown opaque water and Well No. 3 with clear, subtle green water. Both wells are said to contain many ingredients that make your skin moisturized and smooth. The official name of the hot springs of both wells is “sodium chloride-hydrogen carbonate spring,” according to the Hot Spring Law.

Metasilicic acid for beautiful skin

Another feature of our hot springs is the high content of metasilicic acid in both wells. Metasilicic acid is said to be a natural moisturizing ingredient. It promotes metabolism and regulates ceramide, and is also contained in cosmetics products.
According to Mr. Susumu Kuze, Representative of the Association for the Protection of Hot Springs for Beautiful Skin and an onsen sommelier, metasilicic acid, which has outstanding skin-beautifying effects, is generally said to be effective if the well contains 50 mg or more, and powerful if the well contains 100 mg or more. 254.7 mg and 262.9 mg of metasilicic acid are contained in Wells No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, which are higher than the national average. When bathing, try applying the water like lotion onto your face and other areas that feel dry. You may find that it is easier to apply makeup or your razor blades are running more smoothly the next morning.

Reasons for being called hot springs for beautiful skin

Water quality that can be expected to moisturize the skin

The chloride and sodium ions contained in both wells act as a mask that locks in moisture onto the skin. The sodium wraps around the skin like a thin veil, preventing moisture and heat from escaping, and are said to keep the skin moisturized and warm even after bathing.

Water quality that is expected to make the skin smooth

The high content of hydrogen carbonate ions in both wells acts like a soap that removes dirt and dead skin cells from the skin. It is said to make the skin silky and smooth.

Well No.1

Green-brown colored hot spring water for beautiful skin

Sodium chloride and sodium ions can be found in abundance in this sodium chloride-hydrogen carbonate spring, with a pH value of 6.42, making it a gentle spring for the skin. It contains more than twice as many iron ions as Well No. 3, making it a spring with a higher iron content than Well No. 3. The water is clear immediately after it is pumped up from the ground, but as the water comes into contact with the air, the iron ions oxidize and the water changes color, turning into green-brown opaque water when it fills the bathtub.

Well No.3

Clear, light green hot water for beautiful skin

Sodium chloride and sodium ions can be found in abundance in this sodium chloride-hydrogen carbonate spring, which has a pH value of 7.31, making it a gentle spring for the skin. It contains approximately 1.75 times more hydrogen carbonate ions than Well No. 1, making it a more concentrated spring with hydrogen carbonate ions that are said to make your skin smooth.

Open-air mixed bathing

Open-air mixed bathing

The hot springs from Well No. 1 and Well No. 3 are blended and poured directly from their sources into bathtubs. You can enjoy two different spring qualities at once.

Directly sourced hot spring water
  • Due to the high temperature of the hot spring source, the temperature of the bathtub water is adjusted by natural “Kanro” spring water.
  • The water is not heated or circulated.
  • For safety control, disinfection with chlorine is conducted only during cleaning.
Our hot spring is recommended by an onsen sommelier as a hot spring for beautiful skin.

“Hot spring for beautiful skin” is a hot spring source certified by the Association for the Protection of Hot Springs for Beautiful Skin based on its own standards. The association certifies facilities that prioritize the freshness of the hot spring and protect the skin-beautifying power of the source.

Definition 1: The source is located within the facility.
The hot spring is from a source on the premises of the facility. The distance from the fountainhead (where the hot spring water gushes out) to the bathtub is short, so the degree of deterioration of the hot spring water should be minimal.
Definition 2: The hot spring is directly sourced.
100% of the spring water is poured into the bath and is not circulated or filtered.
Definition 3: Absolute values are reached in terms of the spring quality and effective ingredients for beautiful skin.
The quality of hydrogen carbonate spring, sulfate spring and alkaline hot spring, which are hot spring water for beautiful skin, as well as the side effects of skin-beautifying ingredients, have reached the defined standard amount.
